Robert Bristow

Sir Robert Bristow (born 1880-12-13 in London - died 1966-09-03)` is the engineer who is credited with the development of the port of Kochi in India.
Bristow studied in the Technical Insitute in London and joined the Civil Engineering Service in 1903. He worked in various harbours for the next sixteen years, including in the maintenance of the Suez canal.
He joined the services of the Madras government at the age of 39, and came to Kochi on April 13, 1920. He did a study of the harbour and submitted a report to Lord Willingdon, the Governor of Madras. For the next twenty one years, he was involved with the construction of the port. He returned to England on April 13, 1941.
Bristow authored the book 'Cochin Saga' on his experiences. He was a member of the Royal Society of Arts.
