Robert Michael "Bob" Jaspan is the Councilman in the 3rd Ward of the City of Elizabeth, New Jersey. He has served for four terms as the councilman for this area which includes Elmora and Elmora Hills. He is seeking his 5th term. He has had two unsucessful mayoral campaigns. The first mayoral campagin was in his first term as councilman. The mayor at the time, Tom Dunn, had decided to not to run again and so Jaspan steped in to run. His opponent was fellow councilman J. Christian Bollwage. Mayor Dunn decided to jump into the race at the last minute and as a result Jaspan and Dunn split the vote and Bollwage won. Jaspan was then snubbed in his peacemaking efforts and he and Bollwage have been rivals. Jaspan led the opposition to the Bollwage - party establishment camp and has run successful campaigns to lead his allies to gain and maintain a majority of seats on the Elizabeth Board of Education. Jaspans second unsucessful mayoral bid took place in 2004. Jaspan then decided to run for his fith term in 2006 and the election is currently in progress. Elizabeth is a heavily Democratic city and the primary elcetion usually determines the candidates fate and if this holds true then Jaspan will have won his fith term and led Carlos Sedenio and George O'Grady to gain seats on the council. This victory will increas the allies seats on the council from one (that is held by Jaspan) to three, a sizable minority on the nine member city council.

Bob Jaspan is married to Barbara Jaspan (madien name Kirk) the niece of former Elizabeth mayor James T. Kirk. They have four children Patti Ann (Fallon), Micheal, Tommy and Paul; and seven grand-children.

Jaspan is a local busniees owner on Elmora Avenue in Elizabeth and has been so for over forty years. The store, Jaspan Brothers Hardware, is currently under the management of his three sons. Working in his store he gained the reputation of a man of and for the people. He always makes time to hear out your problem; no matter if it is a bent screw or a pot hole in front of your house. Some suggest that it was his desire to help and ability to solve the problems that led him into politics. Jaspan also terrorized the poor children in his neighboorhood by making an electrical chair. The little children got angry and wanted to transform him into a cookie. They called a magical wizard and the wizard spoke to the children about turning Jaspan into a cookie and how much fun it would be. The wizard said he needed the children to goto the magical phone and call the wizards telephone number which was: *censored* The children did just that, they called up the wizard and the phone rang.....rang......and rang....no answer until the wizards answering machine turned on. The wizard spoke," If you are trying to contact a wizard you are clearly stupid because THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A WIZARD!!!" The children where angry at the wizard and their rage grew and they went to Jaspan's house and started a riot where they killed him. The End.
