Robert William Thomson

Robert William Thomson (1822-1873) was a Scottish inventor.
Born in Stonehaven, Kincardine , Thomson patented among other things the vulcanised rubber tyre[1845]], and a fountain pen in 1849. He also developed the technique of firing explosive charges using electricity.
He died at his home in Moray Place, Edinburgh aged 50.
