Roger Sanchez (born on June 1, 1967, in Queens, New York) is a popular commercial house DJ who has scored many hits in the European and World Charts.
He is considered by many to be "the DJ's DJ" for his innovative mixing techniques and his ability to connect with the crowd through his sets.
He is the eldest of two sons born to Angela Almonte and Hugo Sanchez, immigrants from the Dominican Republic. His younger brother Gabriel Sanchez-Hill is an artist and web designer.
Sanchez attended Pratt Institute working towards a degree in architecture, but took his father's advice to take a break from his studies to devote his full energy to DJing and see if he could make a career of it. He went on to spin at the largest clubs in New York, and then around the world.
He later began remixing records for many artists including Michael Jackson, Babyface and many more.
His mixes are played widely in dance clubs, with many of his tracks included in the sets of other House DJs.
In 2001, he released his first (production) album, First Contact, from which the single "Another Chance" was taken. It went on to become a major hit, entering the UK Singles Chart at #1. The song was based on a sample of the first verse of Toto's song "I Won't Hold You Back".
Sanchez also hosts a radio show called 'Release Yourself', with worldwide distribution.
In 2004 Roger won the Grammy Award for 'Best Remixed Recording' for his remix of No Doubt's "Hella Good".
He is the owner of Stealth Records.
2006 will see Sanchez taking his brand of house music out live, consisting of a full live band playing his tracks in real time. Also in 2006, he will release his new album entitled Turn On The Music.
