Rogers Clark Ballard Morton

Rogers Clark Ballard Morton (September 19, 1914 – April 19, 1979) was a U.S. Republican political figure.

Morton was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and graduated from Yale University in 1937. During World War II, Morton served in the United States Army reaching the rank of captain. He was elected to the U.S. Congress, serving the 1st Congressional district of Maryland from 1963 - 1971, and was a Vice Presidential hopeful at the 1968 Republican National Convention. Morton was the chairman of Republican National Committee between 1969 and 1971. He was the Secretary of the Interior between 1971 and 1975. Finally, he was the Secretary of Commerce in 1975. He died in Easton, Maryland in 1979.

His brother, Thruston B. Morton, was also chairman of the Republican National Committee and served in the United States House of Representatives with him. Thruston B. Morton also served two terms in the United States Senate.
