Rohtak is a district in Haryana, India. It is located in the southeast of Haryana, bound by Jind and Sonipat districts to the north, Jhajjar and Sonipat districts to the east and Hissar,Sirsa and Bhiwani districts to the west.

Rohtak is home to the current chief minister of Haryana, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Rohtak is considered to be the 'Jat' heartland and political capital of Haryana. Quilla road is an upmarket place near the old walled city, where people from all parts of the city and surrounding towns. The city has a major Punjabi touch on account of a large population of Punjabi Community migrated from Pakistan at the time of Partition in August 1947. Through their hard work they have come to own a large number of business establishments in the city.

Schools

Rohtak is also home to Maharishi Dayanand University, Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences and a variety of private schools and Colleges. Subhash Ghai and Mallika Sherawat also have their roots in this city. Math is there.

Connections

Rohtak is well connected by rail and road to the country through Delhi which is only 75 km away. direct trains are available in north direction to Pathankot, Jammu, Sriganganagar in east direction to Farukhabad, Gorakhpur and Howrah, in south direction to Chennai and Kanya kumari and in west to Hisar, Sirsa, Bhatinda.

Buses from Rohtak are plying to Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan , Uttarpradesh, J&k, Madhya Pradesh and Uttranchal.
