Rokkaku clan

The Rokkaku clan were descendants of that of the Sasaki clan. The Rokkaku were notably powerful in the Omi province of the 16th century of the Sengoku Period. The Rokkaku also played quite a large role in the struggles for power around Kyoto in the wake of the Onin War. Later on opposing that of the Asai clan, along with Oda Nobunaga in 1568. Following those events, Nobunaga then went on to take the Rokkaku's Kannoji Castle, leading to the clan falling down to the rank of Daimyo during the 1570's.
