Roll Bounce is a 2005 film starring rapper Bow Wow, Chi McBride and Jurnee Smollett. It is directed by Malcolm D. Lee.
Plot
Set in the late 1970s in Chicago, Roll Bounce tells the story of a boy named Xavier (nicknamed "X") whose mother died, leaving him with his father and his sister. Xavier goes through a lot with his father while competing in a jam skating contest with his friends. He learns a lot about himself during the summer. His love interest is Naomi (Meagan Good).
In one powerful scene, "X" lashes out his frustrations of his mother's death by vandalizing his father's car, while repeating the phrase, "Why'd God have to take my Momma?!". After their local roller rink closes down, X and his friends are forced to skate in the ritzy uptown rink "Sweetwater". However when they enter the annual Skate-off, trouble is afoot. They must face the Sweetwater favorite and 5 year champion Sweetness and his crew. This movie was filled with major stars from famous television sitcoms and movies, such as Bow Wow from Johnson Family Vacation, Marcus T. Paulk from Moesha, Khleo Thomas from Holes and Walking Tall, Brandon T.
