Ronaldo Soares Giovanelli

Encyclopedia : R : RO : RON : Ronaldo Soares Giovanelli

Ronaldo Soares Giovanelli (born November 20, 1967 in São Paulo, Brazil) was a famous Brazilian football goalkeeper in the early 1990s. He played for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista for more than 10 years. He helped his side to win its first Brazilian Championship in 1990 and its first Brazilian Cup five years later. He also won the Campeonato Paulista (regional championship in São Paulo) with the Corinthians in 1988, 1995 and 1997.

In the 1990s Ronaldo was the leading vocal of the rock'n roll band "Ronaldo e os Impedidos" (Ronaldo and The Offsiders). They recorded an album with original tracks and a cover of Elvis's "Little Sister".

Ronaldo was arguably one of the best goalkeepers in Brazilian soccer history. He is known as one of the best players in the game that did not have many chances in the national team. Many say the reason was high temper, which could even drive fans against referees, linesman and even his teammates.
