Royal Childrens Hospital from the corner of Flemington Road and Gatehouse Street
The hospital was established in 1870 and moved to its present site in Parkville on the corner of Flemington Road and Gatehouse Street in 1963. It overlooks the trees and lawns of Royal Park. The hospital is home to a McDonald's restaurant. McDonald's provides considerable charity to the hospital's gastroenterology unit (a Ronald McDonald is present at the entrance to the ward), and accommodation for the parents of inpatients. The Good Friday Appeal is held annually to raise money for the hospital. The goal of the Appeal is to ensure that children with life threatening illnesses can have the best care. External link
