The Royal Maritime Auxiliary Service is a British Government agency which ran a variety of civilian manned support vessels for the Royal Navy. Marine services support has been put out to commercial tender by the Warship Support Agency and [since 1996] tugs, lifting craft, various tenders and management of the ports at Devonport, Portsmouth and The Clyde (dual site operation at Faslane and Great Harbour, Greenock) has been operated by Serco Denholm, who are [preferred bidders] for the next contract. A percentage of the work is undertaken by the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, who operate fleet tankers, stores and replenishment vessels, landing ships and a forward repair ship.
