Single release
"Run Baby Run" was released in July 2005 in Australia, where it failed to match the success of previous single "Why Do You Love Me", despite being the #1 Most Added track the week it was serviced to Australian radio."Run Baby Run" was slated for release in the UK on 22 August 2005 and was added to Xfm London's playlist, but the release date was pushed back to 24 October 2005. As the new date approached, there were fears from Garbage fans that the single would flop like the previous release, "Sex Is Not the Enemy", because it has not been playlisted by BBC Radio 1, Xfm London, or BBC Radio 2 as of the beginning of October and because the UK-wide tour it was intended to support was cancelled.
[The Garbage Discography] reported in October that the UK release of the single has been cancelled. After the announcement, Kerrang! radio reported that it would still be released at a later date in the UK. In early January 2006, The Garbage Discography reported that the single would receive a release on 20 March 2006. However, in early February, the release plans were again cancelled.
The song also received some airplay in the United States despite not being released there, and Billboard magazine suggested that it would make a successful single. In addition, MTV recently reported that either it or "It's All Over But the Crying" would likely be the third single in the US. [link]

Shirley Manson: ’Run Baby Run’ is about trying to engineer your own peace of mind and being unafraid to make changes in your life in order to try and facilitate that. [It's] about escape and engineering your own path in life. We’re all too guilty of thinking that peace, love and healthiness are things that we’re all just given".Butch Vig: ""Run Baby Run" was a song idea Duke brought into the band. We worked on that thing ‘til it was almost dead! It took a lot of prodding but we did it."
Duke Erikson: "I think the song is basically about not conforming. Being expected to go through life to behave a certain way; I think "Run Baby Run" is a plea to run from that. Run with your life, take it wherever it takes you.”
