Dreamwave Comics

Runamuck was recruited as a Decepticon under the leadership of Megatron in his war against the Autobots on the planet Cybertron.

When Megatron and Autobot leader Optimus Prime disappeared in an accident with a space bridge, the Autobot and Decepticon forces splintered into smaller factions. Runmuck joined up with the Predacons under the leadership of Starscream.

After the Great Shutdown on Cybertron ended, Runamuck was reformatted in the form of an Earth sports car.

Wounded and looking to recharge, Runabout and Runamuck broke into Shockwave's abandoned lab where they accidentally released Sunstorm (Transformers: Generation One III #1).

Bio

(From Dreamwave's More Than Meets The Eye Profile Book)

Runamuck's only concern is to have fun, and he does. He's always laughing and enjoying himself; the only problem is that Runamuck entertains himself by spreading terror and causing destruction. He cackles gleefully, and he barrels recklessly down the roadway, swatting other cars aside with a flagrant disregard for any rules or safety concerns. The only thing that quiets the maniacally wild Decepticon is a junkyard or other scrap heap; he admires shattered and wrecked carcasses as if they were fine art. His appreciation for a properly destroyed object is part of why Runabout likes the otherwise insane Runamuck; Runabout can always count on Runamuck to appreciate his murderous "work."

Runamuck has slightly above-average strength and intelligence. He is able to transform between modes at a far faster rate than most Transformers. He wields a friction rifle that temporarily increases its target's level of friction; the slightest movement can cause them to burst into flames and begin melting.

His reckless nature is a large handicap in any situation that requires common sense. Additionally, he is terrified of heights.

Runamuck (Runabout in Japan) is one of the Decepticons in the Transformers: Cybertron toy line. He did not appear in the television series, and is a remold based on Armada Side Swipe. His appearance is a homage to Generation One Runabout.

Hasbro Tech Spec: For most of his life, Runamuck served as a spy and courier for Megatron, carrying messages to Decepticon warriors behind enemy lines. Since his leader's disappearance, though, Runamuck has been pretty bored. Too many Autobots around meant he couldn't get away with much. But now, with the Autobots forced into hiding on Earth, he's having the time of his life tormenting them by striking at vulnerable targets in front of a lot of human witnesses, where the Autobots can't counterattack.

Takara Tech Spec: A trooper charged by Master Megatron with the search for Force Chips on Earth. For the sake of investigation he conceals himself from Earthlings, but to cope with the tedium he often lays explosive traps and then attempts to goad the Cybertron warriors on Earth into battle. If the tide of battle turns against him, he can quickly convert to his aero mode and made a deft escape.

Key Code: Similar to the Transformers: Cybertron toy Blurr, Runamuck is a throw-back design to a Transformer character from Generation One. Runamuck, back when he was introduced in 1986, was known as a Battle Charger. His original toy had a pull-back motor feature that when activated, would send his vehicle mode scooting across a flat surface. When he was transformed into robot mode, he could also roll across a floor by pulling back on his wheels. He had a near-identical Battle Charger partner named Runabout too and in the old Transformer comics, these two were hooligans and trouble makers— going so far as to spray paint graffiti on the Statue of Liberty!
