Russell Township is a township located south-east of Canada's capital of Ottawa in eastern Ontario, Canada in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, on the Castor River. Russell Township is located within Canada's National Capital Region.
Major Communities in Russell Township
Russell Township has two major communties.Embrun
Embrun is the largest community in Russell Township, consisting of 7,245 people (2001 Census). An April 2006 estimate estimates Emun's population, however, at 11,514. For more information, see Embrun, Ontario.Russell
Russell is the second largest community in Russell Township, consisting of 5,167 people (2001 Census). An April 2006 estimate estimates Russell's population, however, at 7,507. For more information, see Russell, Ontario (community).Smaller Communities in Russell Township
There are several smaller communities in Russell Township. However, many of these communities are actually part of either Embrun or Russell.Brisson, which is the area north of Embrun centered around Route 200 in between St. Guillaume Road and Limoges Road is counted as part of Embrun in the census. Forget, the rural farmland south of Embrun, is now counted as part of Embrun in the census as well. St. Onge amalagamated into Embrun some time ago.
Felton is a small community south of Russell. Its population is now counted as part of Russell's. North Russell is also counted as part of Russell
