Rwandan franc

The franc (ISO 4217:RWF; also RWFR) is the currency of Rwanda. It is subdivided into 100 centimes.
The franc became the currency of Rwanda in 1916, when Belgium occupied the previously German colony. The Belgian Congo franc replaced the German East African rupie. Rwanda used the currency of Belgian Congo until 1960 when it began issuing its own francs.

Older issues of coins issued in Francs include:- 1: Aluminium 1964–65 and 1974–85
- 2: Aluminium dated 1970, scalloped shape like Hong Kong $2 coin
- 5: Bronze 1974–87
- 10: Copper/Nickel 1974 & 1985
- 20: Aluminium bronze 1977
- 50: Aluminium bronze 1977
Banknotes
Banknotes come in the value of 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 Francs. Historical banknotes include a 20 and 50 Franc from 1964-1977.
