Ryazan Oblast (Russian: ) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). It has an area of 39,600 km² and a population of 1,227,910 (as of 2002 All-Russian Population Census). Its administrative center is the city of Ryazan, which is the largest regional city with a population of 535,000.

Geography

Ryazan Oblast borders Vladimir Oblast (N), Nizhny Novgorod Oblast (NE), Mordovia (E), Penza Oblast (SE), Tambov Oblast (S), Lipetsk Oblast (SW), Tula Oblast (W) and Moscow Oblast (NW).

Time zone

Ryazan Oblast is located in the Moscow Time Zone (MSK/MSD). UTC offset is +0300 (MSK)/+0400 (MSD).
