São Pedro (Portuguese for Saint Peter) is a parish in the northern part of the municipality of Ponta Delgada in the Azores. It is part of the downtown area of Ponta Delgada. The population in 2001 is 7,177, its density is 2,554.1/km² and the area is 2.81 km². It is located in the western part of the island of São Miguel and linked with a road linking Mosteiros and Lagoa. It is part of the Ponta Delgada downtown area. The parish is one of three parishes that has campus of the Universidade dos Açores (Azores' only university and the westernmost in Portugal). It was first founded in 1976. It is the mostly populated parishes in Ponta Delgada and one of the most populated in the Azores. The area is made up of mainly businesses. The Atlantic Ocean is to the north. The mountains with forestsare to the southwest. The port is located near the parish.
