SAT-2 is a transatlantic telephone cable connecting Melkbosstrand, South Africa, to El Medano, Tenerife Island, Spain and Funchal, Madeira islands, Portugal. At a length of 9,500 kilometres, with a bandwidth of 560 Mbit/s. In service since 1993. Property of Telkom SA Ltd, Telefónica, Marconi, BT, France Cables et Radio, Deutsche Bundespost. It contains 82 repeaters.
