SHGR, can stand for
- Hail (METAR Code)
- Super High-Resolution Graphics, is a graphics mode for the Apple IIgs platform. Unlike the standard graphics mode (GR), which is a 40x40 grid with 4-bit color, and high resolution graphics mode (HGR), SHGR can only be found on the Apple IIgs. The other mentioned resolutions can also be found on earlier version of Apple computers, such as the Apple IIe. SHGR is also different from GR and HGR because it often requires a low-level computer programming language such as C. Apple IIgs's built-in BASIC interpreter, Applesoft BASIC for instance, can easily access both GR and HGR graphics modes but cannot directly access SHGR. Later, certain companies such as Iconix developed libraries that gave BASICA scripts the ability to use SHGR. Besides offering greater resolution, SHGR featured 12-bit color, giving the computer a more modern look. The operating system's GUI, called the Finder, runs in SHGR mode.
