SNFU
Encyclopedia : S : SN : SNF : SNFU
SNFU are a Canadian skate punk band who started in 1982. The band originally hailed from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, later relocating to Vancouver. The band had an unusual quirk of releasing albums with seven words in the title.
Their first, very influential album was ...And No One Else Wanted To Play. While originally an acronym for "Society's No Fucking Use", the meaning of those four letters changed over the years, with the band eventually becoming ambiguous on assigning them a specific reference.
The band are renowned for their live act. Flipside fanzine voted them "Best Live Band" in 1987, beating the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fugazi, both of whom have frenetic live acts.
At the end of the summer of 2005, after 23 years of existence, 9 full-length albums (plus one EP) and many worldwide tours, SNFU members announced that they had decided not to continue as they were.[link] Mr. Chi Pig has stated in interviews that SNFU doesn't die until he does, even if he is the sole member of the group at this time.
