Saber Marionette is a group of anime, manga and light novel series created by Satoru Akahori. It began with a short story published in the October 1994 issue of Gekkan Dragon Magazine, which lead the way to 12 volumes of serialized light novels which ran through June of 1999. It eventually spawned a long-running manga series illustrated by Yumisuke Kotoyoshi titled Saber Marionette Z and was later adapted into an anime series which first aired on TV Tokyo in October 1996.

In this story, Faust asks Otaru to receive the three Saber Dolls in his apartment, so he can educate them as he did with Lime, Cherry, and Bloodberry. At the same time, Lorelei is asked to repair Tiger's maiden circuit, which is broken.

Meanwhile, planet Terra II is beginning to experiencing a plasmatic crisis. And the key to save the world lies within a new marionette, which will bear the name Marine. The mystery behind Marine lies in her maiden circuit, and is not unveiled until episode 4. Saber Marionette J to X

This series takes place after Saber Marionette J and continues the adventures of Otaru and his three marionette girls. The most part of the series take place in Xian, where the girls were abducted and after their memories were erased making Lime to work as a nurse, Cherry in the orphan and Bloodberry in the circus. In essence, it explores Lime's doubt of her existence, especially her wish to be a real human; Cherry and Bloodberry too. In a dream, Doctor Hess said he could transform the girls into humans, causing Lime to hope but she and her friends were used to recharge the Neomesopotamia. By their good fortune, Otaru, Faust and the Saber Dolls convince them about their existence and they escape from the ship, but in that moment the Neomesopotamia was at the maxium causing a big Earthquake in Terra ll. So then, the marionettes follow Doctor Hess to the Vortex and save the planet but when they return, the ship explodes causing the destruction of the marionettes and their circuits. But like a miracle, they appeared as souls and Doctor Hess sent them to the place where three female clones were waiting. After that the planet was in calm and some time later the three marionettes were reborn as human girls and became Otaru's daughters. The Saber Dolls were free to do everything they wanted. As for the Saber dolls, Panther was a kind of motivator with a weapon, Linx a happy reporter and Tiger was traveling to find out more about herself.
