The Sagittarius arm (also known as Sagittarius-Carina arm; labeled "-I") is one of two major spiral arms that comes of from one of the central bars of the Milky Way, same with the Cygnus Arm. The dense, inner arm of Sagittarius is located between the Scutum-Crux Arm and the Orion Arm. It is named after its proximity to the Sagittarius constellation, in the direction of the galactic center.

It is set into two parts. Coming of the bar is the Sagittarius arm (Sagittarius bar) then turnes into the Carina arm.

Members

A number of Messier objects are found in the Sagittarius Arm: M8, M11, M16, M17, M18, M20, M21, M24, M26, M55.
