Sakai clan

The Sakai clan of the Mikawa province were greatly related to that of the Matsudaira. Due to this fact, the Sakai served under the Matsudaira throughout the Sengoku Period. The Sakai soon on became chief retainers under that of Tokugawa Ieyasu, being represented by many branches.
