Santa Catalina School (founded 1950) is a private Catholic all-girls boarding school located in Monterey, California.
Santa Catalina is known for its rigorous academics and wealthy student body, with many girls from upper-class families in California. Patty Hearst, the heiress kidnapped by the SLA and later convicted of assisting in bank robberies with the group attended Santa Catalina for two years but was expelled; Abigail Folger, heiress to Folgers Coffee and victim of the Charles Manson murders, also attended. The school used to be run by Dominican nuns. When the order pulled out four nuns left the order to remain on the administrative and teaching staff for the school.
