1. Italian for Ripsaw a hand-saw, with a loose blade in a trapezoidal form furnished with a handle attached at one end, which is larger than the blade;

2. possibly related to saracchio, an Italian term denoting a type of grass used for matting, presumably a topographic name, or possibly a metonymic occupational name for someone who gathered the grass or wove it into mats;

3. possibly a nickname from a derivative of Arabic sarrāq ‘thief’

4. Italian family surname. The Saracco history has been located in the archives of the Historical Research Center and this renowned resource has authenticated the following information: Saracco is a surname which is found primarily in Italy. It should be noted that Saracco family members have migrated through history thereby carrying the name to many areas. In studying our archives we found that in the year 1789 there is a reference to the surname Saracco. There is documentation related to many Saracco family members and we mention here Giuseppe Saracco, a former Prime Minister of Italy (1900-1901). by way of example. The colour Gules (Red) in the coat of arms of the family Saracco symbolizes Military Foritude and Magnanimity. It also reflects the hopes, ambitions and aspirations of its original bearer.
