"Give us 18 minutes, we'll give you the world."

Satellite News Channel, based in the New York City suburb of Stamford, Connecticut. The channel on the air from 21 June 1982 until 27 October 1983. During that time, it provided competition for Turner Broadcasting's CNN. In fact, CNN had started a second network, CNN2, on 1 January 1982 which had a similar format, as a preemptive strike against the ABC/Group W venture. SNC, however, had difficulty getting clearance from cable systems. It was eventually bought by CNN and folded into CNN2, which was renamed CNN Headline News.
