Schwarze Szene

The term Schwarze Szene (English dark culture, Portuguese cultura dark, Spanish cultura oscura) is an umbrella term, used in Germany since the early 1990s to describe a summary of several subcultures. Here the Schwarze Szene is not to be understood as closed subculture, but as "environment", a scene, in which humans of similar interests and preferences (e.g. dark music) move.

- goth subculture (incl. "neogoths" or "cybergoths")
- elektro subculture (e.g. genres like aggrotech or dark electro)
- parts of the neofolk and martial subculture
- parts of the industrial subculture
- parts of the metal subculture (e.g. genres like gothic metal)
Dark Culture (www.darkculture.net) is also the name of a music and entertainment webzine relating to various dark genres.
