Scorpène class submarine
Encyclopedia : S : SC : SCO : Scorpène class submarine
Scorpène class submarines are a class of diesel-electric attack submarine jointly developed by the French company DCN and the Spanish company Navantia. The SSK designation is a reference to the United States Navy's hull classification symbol for 'hunter-killer' submarines. The Chilean Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy and the Indian Navy have ordered the Scorpene submarine. The first Scorpene built is the O'higgins, completed in 2005, which is currently the only one in operation.
