The Scott factory set on the Ottawa River in Quebec. The factory is owned by Scott Paper Limited, Scott's former Canadian subsidiary, and is no longer affiliated with the U.S. firm.
Scott Paper was founded in 1879 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by brothers E. Irvin and Clarence Scott. By 1890 it was the USA's leading manufacturer of toilet paper.
Scott was the first to market disposable paper towels and napkins in the 1930s.
In 1995 Scott Paper merged with the Kimberly-Clark Corporation which continues to market using the Scott brand. Scott Paper Limited, formerly a subsidiary, is no longer affiliated.
