Scottish Storytelling Centre

The Scottish Storytelling Centre was formally opened on 1st June 2006 by Patricia Ferguson MSP, Minister for Culture in the Scottish Executive. It is the world's first purpose built modern centre for live storytelling.

The new building is located on the High Street in Edinburgh's Royal Mile. The new building replaced the former Netherbow Arts Centre. The Centre also encompasses the adjacent John Knox House.

The new building was designed by Malcolm Fraser Architects. The facilities include a 99 seat Storytelling Theatre, an open exhibition on 'Scotland's Stories', a 'Storytelling Café' and the George Mackay Brown Storytelling Library. It is owned by the Church of Scotland and also incorporates the Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office.
