Seebergsattel
Encyclopedia : S : SE : SEE : Seebergsattel
The Seebergsattel (Slovene: Jezerski vrh) connects the Austrian state of Carinthia (the District of Völkermarkt) with the Slovenian Region of Upper Carniola. The insignificant Seeberg Highway (B 82) heads from the Austrian side through the scenically charming nearby village of Bad Eisenkappel (Slovene: Železna Kapla) up to the border crossing on the 1,218 meters above sea level pass. Directly behind the Slovenian border station on a bank is an inn with bilingual host. On the Slovenian side, the pass decends from the Seeberg down into Jezersko, from which there is a superb view of the southern flank of the Karawanken.
The Seebergsattel is also known as the Carinthian Seeberg to differenciate it from the Styrian Seeberg elsewhere in Austria.
