Sepulveda Boulevard

Encyclopedia : S : SE : SEP : Sepulveda Boulevard

Sepulveda Boulevard is a street in Los Angeles, California. It stretches from the north end of the San Fernando Valley to the city limits of Hermosa Beach, a distance of over 30 miles (about 50 km), which is the longest street in Los Angeles. It generally runs north-south, and passes directly under one of the runways of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

An unrelated Sepulveda Boulevard in Southern California runs in an east/west direction between Long Beach and Redondo Beach. There is also yet another Sepulveda Boulevard in Sylmar, starting at Roxford Street and ending at San Fernando Road, although this portion is used primarily as a frontage road along Interstate 5.

Sepulveda Boulevard is probably named after Francisco Sepulveda, an interim Mayor of Los Angeles.
