Serafin is a rockband from London, consisting of Darryn Harkness, Ben Ellis, Ben Smith, and Christian Smith. Although the band has been around for a few incarnations only one full album has been released, No Push Collide. Their second, To The Teeth, has just been made.
Easily and often compared to almost anything in the rock industry Serfin's sound is hard to relate. Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Radiohead, Blur, Oasis (band), etc. it finds a familiar tone within. Their main influence appears to be The Pixies. The band started releasing an EP in April 2002 after winning a battle of the bands. With a subsequent EP in August 2002.
Followed by two releases of their hit Things Fall Apart and two more releases of the lesser hit Day By Day. A year later No Push Collide would emerge to little fan fair. This is not to say that there is a no market for the group, but rather no real promotion or recognition. They have played Reading and Leeds Festivals twice, once on the Carling Stage (2002) and once on the Radio 1 stage (2003).
One of the most notable things about the band is that they are vegan.
On the 26 August 2004 Serafin posted this note on their website: "We have replaced our drummer Ronny Growler with a guy called Lonely Blue boy. We love Ronny who is a fantastic drummer in his own right, but have had to realise our musical differences and preferences which, while considering the chemistry of the band and its future, became too great to continue with." Not too soon latter did they announce that they had returned to the studio for their second album.
At the start of May 2005 the band began releasing mp3s on their site culminating in 21 songs free for download. The recording quality varies and many songs lack most of the band. This gives a feel wholly different then the prior Serafin sound.
