Seva (Sanskrit: stringe) is:
- in Hinduism and Sikhism, volunteer work; selfless service; work offered to God, performed without attachment and with the attitude that one is not the doer. Seva is a cornerstone of the Sikh religion.
- in Sant Mat the same idea has been given a contemporary meaning of serving the Living Master. See Selfless Service.
- in Indian cuisine, a snack food made by deep-frying strands chick pea flour dough flavored with chili powder, salt and sometimes coriander in vegetable oil.
- a non-profit foundation founded by Larry Brilliant and Girija Brilliant to fight blindness and poverty around the world. With sites in India, Cambodia, Nepal, Tibet, China and Mexico, the Seva Foundation has helped restore sight to millions by helping to develop cheap and effective cataract surgery. The foundation is famous for its benefit concerts, which are hosted by the "voice of Woodstock," famed hippy-clown and living Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavor Wavy Gravy.
