Seward Highway

The Seward Highway is a highway in the U.S. state of Alaska that extends 127 miles (204 km) from Seward to Anchorage. It was completed in 1951 and runs through the scenic Kenai Peninsula and Turnagain Arm, for which it was designated an All-American Road by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The highway connects with the Alaska Marine Highway system at Seward; however, as of the end of the 2005 summer season, the ferry will instead dock in Homer and/or Whittier.

The Seward Highway is numbered Alaska Route 9 for the first 37 miles (58 km) from Seward to the Sterling Highway, and Alaska Route 1 for the remaining distance to Anchorage.
