The film Sgt. Bilko was created in 1996 by the Writers Guild of America. It was Directed by Jonathan Lynn and writen by Andy Breckman.
Plot
This movie is a remake of the hit series which starred, Phil Silvers as Sgt. Bilko. In this movie, Bilko is played by Steve Martin. Bilko coverts the motor pool into and has all sorts of scams going on such as gambling, renting out military vehicles etc, which are all violations, his commanding officer, Colonel Hall overlooks them, as he is more concerned about his future as currently a lot of bases are being closed. An Inspector is called into the base to see if it should be hallmarked for destructuon, the inspector, Major Thorn, played by Phil Hartman was on the verge of doing that, however when he heard that Bilko was on the base he changed his mind and decided to investigate further. Thorn was a "thorn" in Bilko's side many years ago but through a series of "misunderstandings" Thorn was accused of carrying out or being the brains behind one of Bilko's schemes, he was sent to Greenland and his career almost ruined, he now wants revenge on Bilko. Thorns eventual revenge ensures and its up to some of Bilkos crew to save the day and the base. Bilko and Thorn take a battle of wits during the entire movie, and Thorn tried everything he can to catch Bilko at his game. Thorn eventually turns to sabotage to try a prove Bilkos guilt but has been yet again scammed by Bilko and is sent back to Greenland. Bilko also must make sure his current fiancee doesn't leave him, they have been nearly married many times and Bilko is given a ultimatum to be able to win her back in 30 days or loose her forever.Cast Details:
