Shaar Hagolan

Shaar Hagolan is a Kibbutz located in the Jordan Valley area in the north-east part of Israel, less then 1 Km from the border of Jordan.
Shaar Hagolan was founded on March 21, 1948 by members of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement. Origins of the founders are Czechoslovakia and Poland. The founders met and were organized as a team in 1930 in Rishon LeZion, Israel and were called "Ein Hakore" until 1948, when they settled in the current location.
The main source of income is the [Golan Plastic Products] factory. Other sources include agriculture (Bananas, Milking cows, Avocado, Water Melons) and Tourism ([El Mul Golan]). A Museum with pre-historic [findings] from the Neolithic era is located near the swimming pool.
The Name
The meaning of the name Shaar Hagolan is "the gate of the Golan". The reason for the name is the location of the Kibbutz - to the foot of the Golan Heights.
