Shanghai Girl is the 2001 novel by Shanghai-born New Yorker Vivian Yang, set in Shanghai and New York in the 1980s and early 1990s. It has received favorable reviews in the U.S. (Amazon.com; The Sampan, etc.) and Hong Kong. Excerpts from her upcoming new novel about a Eurasian Shanghai girl growing up in the city's former French Concession during the 1970s and 1980s have been published in the U.S. and Hong Kong.
