Controversies
On 19 December 2004, Noll was caught driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.11 (more than twice the legal limit of 0.05) after socialising with friends at Condobolin Hotel. He pleaded guilty to the charge. [1] He was subsequently fined $765 and banned from driving for nine months. [2]Also in 2004, newsletter Popbitch reported that one of its readers worked at a brothel that Noll frequently used. Noll strenuously denied the allegations but admitted using marijuana and visiting a brothel "as a kid". [3]
In 2006 Noll challenged comedian Wil Anderson to a charity boxing match after Anderson made jokes about Shannon's late father Neil Noll at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Anderson Refused, prompting Noll to jibe "Reach down in your strides and see if there's a bit of manhood there, if you're lucky enough enough to find any then stand up and be counted" to which Anderson replied that the last thing this country (Australia) needs is a singing version of Anthony Mundine".
