Sheldon Levy is the President and Vice Chancellor of Ryerson University.Sonja Puzic and Alison Northcott: In 2006 he sparked controversy by awarding an honourary degree to Margaret Somerville, who is noted for her opposition to same-sex marriage and gay families.

- He received a master's degree in Mathematics and a Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) from York University.
