Shibata clan

The Shibata clan of Owari province were notably related to that of the Shibata clan of Echigo province. The history of the Shibata prior to the Sengoku Period is unknown however. The Shibata clan however greatly rose in power when the famed member of the Shibata, Shibata Katsuie joined Oda Nobunaga. However, after Katsuie's suicide during the year of 1583, the Shibata clan ultimately faded away into darkness.
