Shimanto, Kochi

Shimanto (四万十市; -shi) is a city located in the soutwestern part of Kochi, Japan. The city was formed on April 10, 2005 from the merger of the city of Nakamura and the village of Nishitosa from Hata District.

As of October 1, 2004, the city has an estimated population of 37,903 and a density of 59.93 persons per km². The total area is 632.50 km².
