Shubie Park is a large urban park in Dartmouth Nova Scotia maintained by the Halifax Regional Municipality that is part of the historic Shubenacadie Canal Park system. The park was first devoloped as as a campground by the former city of Dartmouth on the shore of Lake Charles with a beach and a picnic area for day use . Then the area next to Lake Micmac and Mossmans Beach was developed with trails and an interpretive area called the Fairbanks Center next to the locks features a scale model of canal lock mechanisms . The wooded trails of the Shubbie Canal Park follow a section of the 19th century Shubenacadie Canal, which moved steam ships and their goods bewtween Halifax Harbour and the Bay of Fundy. Today the park stretches out along Highway 118 to Exit 5 of Highway 111 at Mic Mac Boulevard across from the Mic Mac Mall and is part of the Trans Canada Trail system.
