Sidekicks is a 1992 movie about a kid named Barry Gabrewski who has asthma. He has a lot of daydreams about being Chuck Norris's sidekick, the two of them battling against Barry's school bullies. He lives with his father Jerry Gabrewski. Barry gets a job working for an old Chinese man called Mr. Lee, in his Chinese restaurant. Mr. Lee decides to teach Barry some karate so that he can defend himself from the bullies. He later enters a tournament where he confronts his bullies. This movie has many elements in common with The Karate Kid.

Chuck Norris plays a stylised version of himself. Jonathan Brandis plays Barry Gabrewski. Danica McKellar plays his love interest, Lauren. Beau Bridges plays his dad Jerry Gabrewski. Mako plays Mr. Lee, the old Chinese man who teaches him karate.

Television show

A show with a different theme was aired in 1986-1987 casted Ernie Reyes, Jr. as Ernie Lee, the last electric knight. This was a martial arts theme show.
