Siemens COM is the communications and information business of German industrial conglomerate Siemens AG. It is the largest division of Siemens and is divided into Mobile Networks, Fixed Networks and Enterprise business units.
In 2005 and 2006, this division was the subject of much speculation regarding a possible sell-off or merger, with Motorola featuring prominently as a possible potential partner. However, on 19 June 2006, it was announced that Siemens COM (minus the Enterprise business unit), would merge in a 50%/50% joint venture with Nokia's Network Business Group in order to form Nokia Siemens Networks.
