Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme, AG (SNI) was formed in the mid 1990s by the merger of Nixdorf Computer AG and the Siemens' Data Information Services (DIS) division. Functioning as a separate company within Siemens, SNI sold the BS2000 and SINIX operating systems, BS2000 mainframes, a number of databases, SNI RISC-based RM-x00 servers and a variety of other hardware and software products (everything from Personal Computers to SAP R/3). It was the largest IT company in Europe until, in the late 1990s, it was split into two: Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Wincor-Nixdorf. The latter took over all banking and retail related business.
