The Silacoids are a race of alien beings in the PC game .  Physically, they look like purple blobs and are very similar to the Horta.

Silacoid are particularly resistant to incendiary attacks, but are also vulnerable to high-explosive ammunition and weaponry. While not armed with weapons, the Silacoid simply crush their opponents. They are found on Terror missions, base attacks and larger UFOs, with the Muton and Celatid races. They are not found alone.
