The Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra (SYCO) is the youth section of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. This idea of setting up the orchestra was initiated by SCO Chairman, Mr Chew Keng Juea. To turn idea into application, SCO decided to set up SYCO.
International Recognition
SYCO has an established name in the Chinese orchestra genre. It has won numerous prizes in international music competitions in the 1970s. It was also invited to perform in various countries.Musicians from the SYCO
The SYCO has produced numerous outstanding musicians and composers in the local and international music scene. Most local professional musicians and musicians of the Hong Kong Chinese orchestra were former members of SYCO when they first started out.Objectives
The SYCO gives talented young musicians the chance to work with some of the best music talents in the SCO and experience high quality professional music education and training. Through the training, we hope to inspire and nurture potential talents and groom them to be the future pillars of the SCO.See also
