Skudai is a rapidly expanding suburb of Johor Bahru, the largest city in and the capital of the state of Johor in southern Malaysia. Skudai is part of the new growth corridor of southwest Johor, which includes the Senai International Airport, Tanjung Pelepas Port and the proposed new administrative capital of Johor, Bandar Nusajaya. Its population ranges between 150,000 and 200,000. It is the headquarters of the Johor Bahru Central Municipal Council and it is home to the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia campus.
Skudai is located 8km, 4km and 16km from Kulai, Senai and Johor Bahru city (bandaraya) respectively.
Nearby towns and housing areas are Taman Universiti, Taman Sri Skudai, Taman Desa Skudai, Taman Sri Putri, Taman Tun Aminah, Taman Pulai Utama, and Mutiara Rini.
Shopping
Skudai has a large catchment area, hence the number of shopping centres built around Skudai. The shopping centres that are in and within Skudai are Skudai Parade, Jusco Taman Universiti, KIP Mart, XTRA, Skudai Mall and Kemayan City. The latter two shopping centres were abandoned. Skudai plaza was abandoned due to bankruptcy attributing to poor business while Kemayan City was abandoned during construction for unknown reasons.
