Skullhead
Encyclopedia : S : SK : SKU : Skullhead
Skullhead was a British RAC band in the 80's from Newcastle area. Along with Brutal Attack, Skrewdriver, and No Remorse, they are one of the most influential bands of that genre. Led by Kev Turner, they developed from an Oi! band into what they termed a "Skinhead Rock" band, meaning that their music had Oi!, metal, and rock influences. They covered "Silver Machine" from Hawkwind, an early band of Lemmy from Motörhead. Skullhead stayed away from the overt racist lyrics of bands like No Remorse and preferred to talk about British pride, Nordic gods, and anti-capitalism. They saw themselves as a Third Position band meaning anti-capitalist and anti-communist.
